Location. The MarQueen Hotel is located in Seattle's colorful Queen A nne district, a residential neighborhood that offers sweeping views of downt own and Elliott Bay. The historic MarQueen Hotel is two blocks from the Seat tle Center, home to museums, theaters, and the landmark Space Needle. The Se attle Center includes a monorail that departs every 10 minutes to downtown's Westlake Center shopping center.
Features. Built in 1918, the Ma rQueen Hotel's features a brick façade and Neoclassical lobby with Grecian c olumns, terrazzo floors, Oriental rugs, mahogany wainscoting and decorative molding. The lobby's grand staircase rises in opposite directions to the pro perty's upper floors. The hotel has no elevator. However, wheelchair-accessi ble guestrooms are located on the first floor. Complimentary breakfast vouch ers are provided for the on-site Caffe Ladro, and hold values of up to ten d ollars per room, per day. Twice a week, the MarQueen Hotel holds evening win e receptions in the lobby. The hotel offers concierge services, room service , valet parking for a fee, meeting rooms and a 24-hour front desk. A complim entary downtown shuttle is available. A spa and fitness center are on site. Shuttle service within five miles is complimentary.
Guestrooms. Prior to the hotel's renovation in 1998, the MarQueen served as luxury ap artment rentals and still retains much of the original layout, with most gue strooms having separate bedrooms, living rooms and kitchens. Guestrooms feat ure high ceilings, hardwood floors, Queen Anne style furnishings, artwork, a rea rugs and live plants. Kitchens include refrigerators, minibars, microwav e ovens, utensils and tables. Bathrooms have tile floors, shower/tub combina tions and velour terrycloth robes. All guestrooms feature complimentary wire less Internet access.
Expert Tip. The MarQueen was originally built in 1918 to house blacksmiths and mechanics working at the Ford assembl y plant.
