Location. The Summit at Big Sky is located in Big Sky, Mont., on the slopes of Lone Mountain in Gallatin National Forest and in Big Sky Resort's Mountain Village Center. The Summit's entrance is within 100 yards of three ski lifts.
Features. The Summit at Big Sky is a year-round, high-rise condominium resort, offering European-style lodging in Montana's rugged mountain wilderness. The lobby echoes the state's rich ranching heritage with its two-story flagstone fireplace, elk- sculpture chandelier, coffee-colored floors and amber wood- paneled walls adorned with Western Americana art. The lobby's plush leather furnishings include black-and-white cowhide sofas, chairs and ottomans. The resort's Western Americana theme continues at the Talus Conference Room, which provides space for business meetings and special events. Peaks Restaurant serves breakfast buffets, lunches and dinners. The Carabiner Lounge's fireplace, music and overstuffed chairs welcome guests for casual dining and social gatherings. Next door, the Mountain Village Center's shops sell sports equipment, gifts and clothing. Guests have access to the Solace Spa at Big Sky, a day spa that features hot stone massages, sea salt scrubs and body wraps. Complete with an island and submerged benches, the resort's pool-sized spa tub accommodates up to 120 people. During summer months, two tennis courts are open adjacent to Huntley Lodge. The West Fork of the Gallatin River flows through the middle of Big Sky resort's 18-hole golf course, which was designed by championship golfer Arnold Palmer and features a pro shop and lounge. The Summit's concierge desk provides information and reservations for area attractions. In addition to snow sports, activities available at Big Sky include Yellowstone Park tours, whitewater rafting adventures, horseback riding excursions and fishing/hunting guide services.
Guestrooms. Offering mountain and village views, the Summit's 213 guestrooms range from studios to two-bedroom condominiums. Select units offer spa tubs, fireplaces, and fully equipped kitchens. All accommodations provide cable television with pay movies, video game consoles, and complimentary wireless Internet access.
Expert Tip. The resort's tram transports skiers to Lone Mountain's 11,250-foot peak, giving ski enthusiasts one of the nation's largest vertical drops at 4,180 feet.
