Hotel Features. This smoke-free gated resort is set among 16 acres of lush gardens and manicured lawns and offers three swimming pools, each with its own jetted tub, two lighted tennis courts, a recreation and lounge area and barbecue facilities. Enjoy dinner at Edward's at Kanaloa, an excellent restaurant located on site, or sip cocktails by the pool bar.
Guestrooms. Each spacious low-rise one- or two-bedroom condominium has been designed for privacy and casual living, and includes a large private lanai, wet bar, ceiling fans, walk-in closets, and washer/dryer. Every unit also features a fully equipped kitchen with microwave oven, dishwasher, full size stove, oven, toaster, refrigerator and cooking utensils. Expert Tip. One interesting attraction is the Kula Kai Caverns and Lava Tubes, a labyrinth of lava tubes and caves, carved out over the last thousand years and crisscross the slopes of Mauna Loa near South Point. Tour choices range from a half- hour tour to a more adventuresome 2-hour caving trip. Helmets, lights, gloves and knee pads are included, but sturdy shoes are recommended.
