The Old Riverton Inn overlooks the wild and scenic west branch of the Farmington River in Riverton, Conn. The inn is less than one mile from the Peoples State Forest, offering outdoor activities including trout fishing, canoeing, hiking, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, biking and picnicking. This country inn was originally a stagecoach stop along the Hartford to Albany postal route, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Complimentary continental breakfasts are provided daily. The inn's dining room is open to the public Friday through Sunday. Parties and meetings are held in the enclosed grindstone terrace, which features white wrought iron furniture and a raised fireplace. The inn's Hobby Horse Bar showcases murals and bar stools fashioned from saddles on kegs.
The Old Riverton Inn features twelve guestrooms. All units include private bathrooms and cable television. Select rooms feature hickory furniture, original wainscoting, pineapple four-poster beds or rocking chairs. Double rooms are generally smaller than queen miles.
