Location. The former mining town of Red Lodge, Mont., is home to The Pollard, a mountain retreat that sits at the edge of the Rocky Mountains. This hotel sits at the east end of the scenic Beartooth Highway and is within three miles of the Beartooth Nature Center and Rodeo Grounds. Skiing at Red Lodge Mountain is six miles away where 1600 acres and 71 trails of Rocky Mountain skiing are available late November through mid- April. The hotel is 60 miles from the majestic beauty of Yellowstone National Park and 64 miles from Billings Logan International Airport.
Hotel Features. The Pollard marries grace with romance to provide guests a picturesque historical setting with old western charm. Oak-paneled common areas provide seating ideal for having drinks or reading before a fireplace. Since its restoration, The Pollard offers such modern conveniences as a health club equipped with cardiovascular and strength training equipment, racquetball courts, a spa tub and saunas. Event space for social events and meetings includes a three-story atrium with a stone fireplace. On-site, the Dining Room serves three meals daily both indoors and on an outdoor deck. Silver Spur Lounge serves cocktails and after-dinner delights that can be enjoyed in the hotel's History Room and Gallery areas. Breakfasts at the hotel are complimentary and cooked-to-order.
Guestrooms. This smoke-free hotel features 39 Victorian era influenced guestrooms and suites with mountain views and balconies overlooking the Gallery fireplace. Spa tubs and steam baths are featured in select rooms, and in- room massage treatments are available. Complimentary guestroom features include newspapers delivered weekdays and Internet access. Private baths are equipped with designer toiletries and makeup mirrors.
Expert Tip. This hotel once served the likes of many western legends, including Buffalo Bill Cody and Calamity Jane. Additionally, Red Lodge Mountain offers skiing at no charge for children five years and younger, and adults 70 years and older.
