Location. The Carefree Resort & Villas is located in Carefree, Ariz., at the foothills of the Sonoran Desert. Downtown Carefree, The Shops at El Pedregal and Heard Museum North are located two miles from the resort. Hotel Features. The Carefree Resort & Villas rests on 54 acres within the Tonto National Forest. Daily planned activities at the resort include daily walks, transportation to Pinnacle Peak and evening campfires. The resort's amenities feature a fitness center and two outdoor pools. Five lighted tennis courts and a putting green are also available. The hotel provides bicycle rentals for a fee to explore the Continental Mountains or Tonto National Forest. The full-service spa offers massage therapies, skin and nail care, aromatherapy, and body treatments in an impeccably decorated facility with a Southwestern motif. The Carefree Resort & Villas features two on-site dining options. The Red Horse Saloon is a casual Western bar with pool tables, piano and a big-screen television. The Lariat Grille, featuring American cuisine with Southwestern flair, is housed in an abode building overlooking the main pool and the mountains. The poolside bar serves cocktails.
Guestrooms. Accommodations at the resort are either housed in villas adjacent to the resort or rooms located on the resort grounds. Two-bedroom villas at the resort can be divided and reserved separately either as a one-bedroom Master Villa or as a one-bedroom Junior Villa. Both options feature full balconies or patios and separate sitting rooms. The Master Villas offer second bathrooms, dining areas and fully equipped kitchens. All units feature air conditioning, televisions with complimentary premium channels, and video games for a fee. Washers and dryers, fireplaces, garages and kitchens with dishwashers, microwave ovens and refrigerators are provided in the villas. Standard guestrooms offer complimentary high-speed Internet access and villas feature complimentary wireless Internet access. All guestrooms and villas offer furnished patios or balconies with views of the Continental Mountains, the brook and main pool area, or the desert landscape.
Expert Tip. The Heard Museum, two miles from the hotel, was founded in 1929 and houses more than 35,000 items of Native American artifacts. The museum has been designated as a Phoenix Point of Pride. Exhibits include a Navajo Hogan and antique Hopi kachina dolls.
