Location. Positioned on the rocky western coast of the Big Island, ResortQuest Kona By The Sea is two miles from shopping, dining and entertainment in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Part of the allure of the Big Island is its contrasting geology. Active volcanoes, shimmering waterfalls, snowcapped mountains, tropical rainforests, a glacial lake and miles upon miles of golden, black, white and even green-sand beaches occupy an area smaller than the state of Connecticut. Hotel Features. Unlike most properties along this stretch of coast, the resort features a sandy area, 70 by 15 yards, between the outdoor pool and the ocean. There is a sundeck with lounge chairs and a jetted tub surrounding the pool, and there are barbeque grills on site. There is an activities desk where guests book tour and luaus, and child care can be arranged. Spa Hina, located at the resort, offers yoga, Pilates, massage, wraps, scrubs and beauty treatments. There is also a health food bar and a fitness center with cable-pulley systems, free weights and cardio equipment. Wireless Internet access is available and the staff provides concierge services.
Guestrooms. All accommodations feature tropical décor and lanais with ocean views. The one- and two-bedroom units come with full kitchens featuring ranges, refrigerators and microwave ovens. Cable television, VCRs and in-room safes are standard, and high-speed Internet access is available for a fee.
Expert Tip. On the other side of the island visitors can check out one of Hawaii's most scenic waterfalls, Akaka Falls, via a paved path that loops through a rainforest. Fantastic views of the 442-foot falls and of nearby Kahuna Falls can be found at the observation point.
