Location. The Lancaster Arts Hotel in Lancaster, Pa., was built in the 1800s and converted to a hotel in 2005 decorated exclusively by local artists. The hotel is one-half mile from antique shopping and Franklin & Marshall College. Lancaster Airport is five miles away.
Hotel Features. Built in the 1800s, the property was originally a tobacco warehouse in Lancaster's bustling uptown. The hotel's John J Jefferies restaurant serves local organic fare. The business center offers computers and wireless Internet access. The hotel provides bicycle rentals to visit the nearby local shops and cafes.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms include iPod docking stations, flat-screen televisions, and wireless Internet access. Bathrooms feature Turkish bathrobes and Kinu Japanese toiletries. Select guestrooms feature kitchenettes with refrigerators, and baths with spa tubs.
Expert Tip. Five suites offer private in-room art galleries with styles that range from abstract and collage to monotype printing. The suites were previously occupied for a one-year period by a local artist who lived and worked in the suite to transform it to his or her own artistic vision.
