Location. Located on the southern end of Amelia Island, Fla., the Amelia Island Plantation is directly across from the St. Mary's River and adjacent to the historic city of Fernandina, Fla. The resort overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway, and boasts three-and-one-half miles of beachfront. Features. Ten restaurants include The Ocean Grill, The Verandah, and a gourmet deli and wine shop, the Marché Burette. The Falcon's Nest restaurant and nightclub boasts a dance floor and pool tables, and hosts DJs or live entertainment. A total of 49,000 square feet of function space accommodates events. Four 18-hole championship golf courses wind throughout the resort. Complimentary shuttle service to the Amelia River Golf Course is provided. A total of 20 outdoor pools are Located throughout the property, as are 23 clay tennis courts. A fully staffed health and fitness center houses an indoor lap pool. The spa offers saunas, steam rooms, spa tubs and exercise classes. A nature center with groomed trails offers hiking, biking, kayaking and guided Segway personal transport tours. A shopping village includes clothing, golf and specialty shops.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms and villas are located in a seven-story hotel building or two- to six-story, condo-style buildings. Select rooms offer furnished balconies or patios with ocean views. Resort-view accommodations, located within the interior of the resort, afford forested, golf course, lake or tennis center views. Condo-style villas feature fully equipped kitchens, dining areas, living rooms, washers and dryers, and furnished balconies or patios. Guestrooms are equipped with mini fridges. Cable television and complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access are provided.
Expert Tip. Scenes from the internationally famous "Pippi Longstocking" movie were filmed on Aury Island, which is part of the resort property. Young guests are invited to take fishing poles out to the island and angle for fresh catch.

Rooms receive housekeeping services based on the length of stay. Daily service includes making beds, tidying the unit, replacing towels and linens, trash removal, spot vacuuming, and loading/unloading of dishwashers. Guests staying in a villa (not as part of a group) for four nights or less receive arrival and departure cleaning. Guests staying five nights or more receive housekeeping every four days. Additional housekeeping services are available for a surcharge. Guests also have the option of participating in Project Planet, a voluntary bed linen and towel reuse program designed to save water. Guests can participate in the conservation program by reusing their towels and linens.
