Location. The Omni Detroit Hotel River Place is located in Detroit, Mich., on the banks of the Detroit River, across which lies the city of Windsor, Ontario. Ford Field, Joe Louis Arena, and Comerica Park are all within two miles. American and Canadian casinos are within five miles of the property.
Hotel Features. Decorated in the style of a European boutique hotel, the Omni Detroit Hotel River Place's reception area includes dark wood furnishings and a fireplace. Fender's Tavern provides plasma televisions and a billiards table, while the menu offers appetizers, salads, sandwiches and steaks. In season, Fender's guests dine on the waterfront patio, which features views of the river walk. The fitness center includes cardiovascular equipment and free weights. The hotel contains 8,000 square feet of event space. A complimentary hourly shuttle delivers guests to downtown attractions such as Greektown and Renaissance Center.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms include coffeemakers and stocked refreshment centers. Bedding features 250-thread count sheets. High-speed Internet access is complimentary. In-room safes are provided.
Expert Tip. The Omni Detroit Hotel River Place's building was declared a National Historical Landmark in 1976. It was originally constructed in 1902 as the headquarters pharmaceutical company Parke-Davis & Company, and a second wing was added in 1941. In 1999, the property underwent a $5 million restoration.
