Location. The Best Western King Charles Inn is centrally located in Charleston, S.C. The hotel is on Meeting Street in the historic district of Charleston across the street from a trolley stop. Attractions within one-half mile of the hotel include the Aquarium, Fort Sumter boat tour, Old Market and the Gibbes Museum of Art.
Hotel Features. The hotel serves breakfast each day that includes biscuits, gravy, grits, cereal, fruit, juice, yogurt, pastries and breakfast meats (surcharge). A complimentary 18-hour coffee and tea bar is available every day, along with room service during limited hours. The evening manager's reception serves cheese, crackers and fruit. Guest parking is complimentary. Meeting facilities, business services and complimentary wireless Internet access are available for social functions and conferences. The hotel includes a library, an outdoor pool, patio and access to a fitness facility next to the hotel.
Guestrooms. The hotel's 91 smoke-free guestrooms reflect the inn's early-19th-century beginnings with period artwork, armoires and armchairs. Amenities include complimentary wireless Internet access, coffee/tea makers, compact refrigerators and 32-inch LCD televisions.
Expert Tip. Originally called the Pavilion Hotel when it was constructed in 1830, it served as a meeting place for area writers, artists and craftsmen, including Edgar Allen Poe, who stayed here weekly while stationed at Fort Moultrie.
