Location. Set at the end of a winding road, the Great Oak Manor is located on the Chesapeake Bay, eight miles from Chestertown, Md. The Prince Theater and Rockhall Museum are approximately 10 miles away. Features. This Georgian style manor, built in 1938, resides on a 12-acre country estate. A private beach and gazebo on the bay offer rockers and Adirondack chairs. The grounds feature sitting areas shaded by large oak and walnut trees. Full complimentary breakfasts are served each morning in the formal dining room, which features a fireplace and bay views. Afternoon refreshments are offered in the Chesapeake room, featuring a fireplace, television with cable channels and a VCR. Evening port and sherry are served in the Music Room, which is furnished with a piano, fine art and period decor. Lunch is available upon request for a fee. The bed and breakfast offers conference rooms, and fax and photocopy services. The grand entrance features a sweeping, spiral staircase. The Conservatory's glass enclosure facing west offers sunset views year-round. The Library houses an extensive collection of books and a fireplace. An expansive terrace furnished with lounge chairs overlooks the bay. Complimentary bicycles and lawn games are available. Use of the pool, tennis courts and a nine-hole golf course next door at the Great Oak Yacht Club are complimentary. Pets are not allowed at this property.
Guestrooms. Guestrooms at the Oak Manor Inn are uniquely decorated with period furnishings. All rooms offer private bathrooms with bathrobes. The D'Oench Guest Room, named after the original owner of the manor, overlooks the bay, and features a fireplace and sitting area. The Roese Guest Suite offers views of the courtyard and carriage house, a living room, fireplace and a skylight in the bathroom. The Hodges Guest Room features a four-poster bed, a fireplace and views of the estate's grounds. Cable television, DVD players and coffeemakers are provided in all rooms. Guestrooms are individually heated and air-conditioned.
Expert Tip. Historic Chesterfield, Md. offers antique shops, galleries, historic homes, museums, theaters, restaurants and specialty shops eight miles from the inn. The Prince Theater is an old vaudeville theater which features concerts, live performances and films.
